The irrigation industry is celebrating the innovative systems, technologies and people who make smart irrigation possible.

During this year’s service project on the National Mall, volunteers installed woodchips around tree stands near the Washington Monument.

Smart Irrigation Month is a reminder of the innovative solutions and the importance of adopting technologies to ensure water sustainability.

The submission deadline is Aug. 30, and applicants will be notified of their proposal status by Sept. 16. 

Directors are elected to three-year terms and work to establish the association’s strategic direction, policies and programs.

Contractors can submit projects in one of two categories: irrigation and landscape lighting. 

The scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,000 and were awarded to students who have shown a passion and interest in sustainability.

Smart Irrigation Month, sponsored by HydroPoint, will emphasize the importance of efficient irrigation in conserving water.
