Robert Bartlett Jr., chairman and CEO of Bartlett Tree Experts, has been awarded the Elizabeth Medal of Honour by the Royal Horticultural Society—an international recognition reserved for individuals who have made significant contributions to horticulture. Established in 2023 to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II, the award is limited to just 70 living recipients at any time. Bartlett is the first American to receive the distinction.

Under his leadership, Bartlett Tree Experts has expanded across North America and into the United Kingdom and Ireland, while also investing heavily in research and diagnostics. Water management and proper irrigation are core components of the company’s services at its Osterville, Massachusetts, location, through a 2025 acquisition of Waterworks Irrigation.

The company is widely known for its 26,000-tree arboretum which includes plant species from around the world and its research laboratories support tree health, conservation, water management and education.
