Hitachi Construction Machinery Tierra Co. Ltd., a consolidated subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd., located in Japan’s Shiga Prefecture, will enhance and relocate its compact product test site to an adjacent site by fiscal year 2024. The goal of this move is to advance development and testing of excavators and compact wheel loaders, including structural rigidity tests.

Hitachi attributes the product test site move to the fact that because compact products often replace manpower and frequently operate in urban areas, there is a growing need for high functionality, which requires more advanced development testing.

Hitachi’s new product test site is about 200,000 square feet, approximately twice the size of its previous site. It is located at 6 Hinokigaoka, Minakuchicho, Koka-shi, Shiga Prefecture, within the Hinokigaoka Industrial Park.

The new site will also help Hitachi Construction Machinery and its Tierra subsidiary meet growing demand for compact machinery. The Shiga Works facility is forecast to produce approximately 30% more units by fiscal year 2025 compared to the number of machines produced in fiscal year 2021.

The company also expects demand to grow in North America, where Hitachi Construction Machinery Americas Inc., headquartered in Newnan, Georgia, started its full-scale business expansion in March 2022.
