Fairfax, Virginia-based Irrigation & Lighting magazine named its winners for the 2023 Irrigation & Lighting Changing the Landscape Awards.
The awards recognize projects that took on difficult obstacles or produced outstanding results for clients. The Changing the Landscape Awards are presented in two categories: landscape irrigation and lighting.
The winner of the landscape irrigation category was Fleming Irrigation, Palo, Iowa, for a project that involved designing and installing an irrigation system that used water effectively across a challenging 5-acre property with steep hills and hard clay soil. The work that Travis Libbert, CIC, CID, Fleming Irrigation president and general manager, did in the design stage made it possible for his team to see the project through to the end even when equipment broke down and the weather worked against them.
The winner of the lighting category was Luxury Illumination in Palm Beach, Florida, for a challenging lighting installation at a waterfront property that involved lighting extending from the parking area to the end of the boat dock. Greg Matthews, CLVLT, COLD, owner of Luxury Illumination, developed a landscape lighting design that brought the landscape to life while creating a magical effect on the dock and surrounding water.
Each of the winners was featured with an in-depth profile in the print and digital editions of Issue 3 of Irrigation & Lighting.
“Both of this year’s winners emphasized the planning stages of their projects, which made the rest of the installation possible despite intense environmental obstacles,” says Kyle Brown, Irrigation & Lighting editor-in-chief. “The work they completed shows the value of education and a solid plan, and they should be immensely proud of themselves and their teams.”
The landscape irrigation category for this year’s awards was sponsored by Hunter Industries, and the lighting category was sponsored by Brilliance LED. Read more about this year’s winners and find out about past winners here.
