Irrigation is prohibited for all City of Pflugerville water users due to historically low lake levels.

The City of Pflugerville, Texas, has implemented Stage 3 emergency water restrictions beginning March 4, 2026, until further notice, due to historically low levels at Lake Pflugerville. Watering restrictions escalated from Stage 1 to Stage 3 in just days after a raw waterline break disrupted flows to the lake, the city’s main water source, causing the water shortage.

Under Stage 3 restrictions, water use is limited to indoor use only, except for watering foundations as needed. Property owners who rely on City of Pflugerville water are prohibited from using water for outdoor purposes, including landscape irrigation, for:

  • lawn, garden, or potted plant irrigation using sprinklers or hoses.
  • decorative fountains, unless they contain fish or recirculate water.
  • new landscaping that requires watering.

Violations can range from warnings to fines of $1,500 to $2,000 per offense. Contractors installed a temporary waterline to restore raw water flow, but water restrictions will remain in place until the lake’s water level reaches 19 feet. City officials anticipate it will take 60 days for water levels to be restored if all goes as planned.
