The 11th Leonardo da Vinci Award was presented to Pedrollo Group, Verona, Italy, the majority shareholder of Superior Pump, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Luigi Brugnaro, mayor of Venice, presented the award to Giulio Pedrollo, the group’s managing director.
The Leonardo da Vinci Award aims at enhancing the ability of family enterprises to transmit their heritage and their values to future generations.
“This day has a particularly deep meaning for me and my family; the Leonardo da Vinci Award is the first international recognition assigned to Gruppo Pedrollo,” says Pedrollo. “Although, in the past, the single companies belonging to the group have received numerous awards, today, thanks also to the affirmation of our strategy of internal growth and external add-ons, we are living an important page in our history which gratifies the willfulness of family-run companies in the desire to transmit their heritage and their values to future generations.”
“Principles such as attachment to the local territory, dedication to work, the constant research into innovation, the never-ending focus on quality and growing investment in sustainability animate our task every single day as a socially responsible company, as is our path towards internationalization,” says Pedrollo. “The sharing of these principles translates into a generational pact which goes beyond simple economic sustainability. Family-run companies represent the hard core of the Italian economy. We have a special resilience. Of course, at times, the change from one generation to another may become an issue, but if properly prepared, it transforms into an extraordinary resource.”
The Pedrollo Group, which developed from Pedrollo SpA, has expanded to include City Pumps and the businesses of Linz Electric, Gread Elettronica and Panelli. With the acquisition of Superior Pump, carried out in December 2022 through Pedrollo Group Inc., the Pedrollo Group has reinforced its own leadership in hydraulic pump technology by focusing on a direct presence in the North American market. Today, the group, which produces more than 3 million pumps, is present with its own products in over 160 countries with 12 sales branches and over 1,200 employees.
