With daylight saving time in effect, Hillsborough County, Florida, is reminding residents to check their automatic irrigation timers to ensure they align with local watering restrictions and efficiency guidelines.
The county’s Extension Service offers a free on-site irrigation evaluation to help homeowners, community associations and condominium groups adjust their systems. The goal is to prevent overwatering, avoid code enforcement violations and reduce high water bills.
“You want to make sure you have your settings correct, as far as the time goes, so you don’t get an enforcement with code,” Heather Crowley, urban horticultural assistant with Hillsborough County Extension Service, told Fox 13 Tampa. “In doing that, it’s also the perfect time to make sure you’re watering the right amount for your location, and you have no broken heads because you don’t want to get hit with that high water bill.”
