Gillette, Wyoming, completes $1.53-million irrigation modernization project

Gillette, Wyoming’s city council approved the completion of a $1.53 million project to modernize the city’s irrigation control system, replacing an outdated water management system with advanced technology aimed at improving efficiency and water control, according to reporting from County 17. Led by the city’s parks division, this project caps a five-year effort to upgrade 25 high-priority irrigation sites throughout city parks and public spaces. 

The upgrades include new controllers, software, communication hardware and backflow prevention measures, allowing for enhanced water management and flow monitoring. The projects were funded through a 1% optional sales tax. According to County 17’s reporting, the project was delivered on time and within budget by Hladky Construction Inc.
