Rain Bird acquires OtO to grow smart irrigation offerings

Rain Bird Corporation acquired Toronto-based OtO Inc., a smart lawn care company known for its solar-powered, app-controlled sprinkler system. 
The acquisition adds app-enabled, hose-end solutions to Rain Bird’s residential portfolio, targeting homeowners without underground systems.

Rain Bird Corporation acquired Toronto-based OtO Inc., a smart lawn care company known for its solar-powered, app-controlled sprinkler system. 

Founded in 2019, OtO developed a weather-responsive device designed to simplify hose-end irrigation for smaller or irregularly shaped lawns. The product has received industry accolades, including a CES Innovation Award and recognition from TIME as one of the Best Inventions of 2022. 

“This acquisition allows Rain Bird to serve a broader range of homeowner needs,” said Michael Roberts, Rain Bird’s Vice President of Technology and Innovation. “OtO’s innovative approach aligns perfectly with our mission to promote the intelligent use of water.” 

OtO will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary under its own brand and remain headquartered in Toronto.
