Southern Nevada fall watering schedule starts Sept. 1

The Southern Nevada Water Authority reminds residents and businesses that the fall watering schedule begins September 1. From September 1 through October 31, landscape irrigation is limited to three assigned days per week, with Sunday watering prohibited year-round. 

Assignments are available at snwa.com, and violations can result in water-waste fines. Cooler September temperatures mean most landscapes require less water, SNWA notes. 

Drip-irrigated plants and trees should be watered only two days per week, while grass may be irrigated three days. Sprinkler systems should continue running in the early morning hours to reduce evaporation, and users are urged to avoid watering on windy or rainy days. SNWA also encourages regular system inspections to prevent overspray onto streets and sidewalks.
